Justice Desk Africa is thrilled to announce the appointment of Thabang Edwin Molapo to our Board of Governance, where he will be involved in the portfolios of Finance and Programs.
Thabang brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in audit, governance, and public financial management, making him a perfect fit for our growing organisation. His passion for advancing public service delivery and promoting transparency aligns perfectly with our mission to empower communities and uphold justice across Africa. Thabang was one of our first supporters when Justice Desk Africa was founded in 2013.
Thabang is a distinguished leader in the fields of accounting and governance, holding the prestigious Registered Government Auditor (RGA) designation. His contributions to the Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA) are both extensive and transformative. As a board member and later co-opted Technical Director, he played a pivotal role in overseeing SAIGA's professional examinations and spearheading the development of a groundbreaking competency framework to professionalise public financial management in South Africa and beyond.
His influence extends across Africa through his involvement with the Pan-African Federation of Accountants (PAFA), where he contributed to efforts aimed at improving the quality of financial reporting on the continent. Notably, he has also been involved in establishing a continental "Auditors Without Borders" initiative, which seeks to enhance financial governance across Africa.
In 2023, he was honoured with the prestigious Harvard South Africa Fellowship, leading to his acceptance into the Master in Public Administration program at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. At Harvard, he will focus on utilising public policy to strengthen democratic processes, a mission that resonates with Justice Desk Africa’s goals.
His dedication to public service, democracy, and social justice is further demonstrated through his SAIGA President’s Award, which places him alongside esteemed figures such as former Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng. Thabang's passion for civic education, gender equity, and the professionalisation of public service makes him a powerful voice in the fight for human rights and equality.
Beyond his technical expertise, Thabang is deeply committed to examining the intersection of accounting, democracy, and service delivery, as well as exploring how gender policies impact boys and seeking progressive solutions for unintended social consequences.
We are honoured to welcome Thabang Edwin Molapo to our Board and look forward to the invaluable contributions he will bring to Justice Desk Africa’s mission of promoting human rights, education, and social justice across the continent. His expertise, leadership, and passion for justice will undoubtedly elevate our work and drive even greater impact in the communities we serve.
Welcome aboard, Thabang!
